Sandefjord, Norway • April 2, 2015 – Barnfind Technologies, manufacturer of a revolutionary multi-functional, signal neutral transport platform, has announced that its BarnOne flagship series was selected as the fiber optic transport platform for a major gaming company’s new 250,000 square foot Media Center located in Los Angeles, California. The video game publisher is the creator of an outrageously successful multiplayer online battle arena game with 67 million international players per month, 5 million players at any given moment, and a World Championship tournament watched by more than 32 million fans around the globe. Games are streamed live from the Media Center.
According to Randy Marzec, Director of Key Accounts for VTP, Inc., a solutions provider for high-end audio & video professionals and Barnfind’s local partner in the Los Angeles area, the gaming company had very specific and sophisticated requirements not commonly available from one supplier. The system had to provide transport for 24 channels of various digital coax signals, including ASI, SDI, AES, and MADI in any combination, and four channels of analog coax signals, including video, time code and word clock in any combination, point-to-point over 28 single mode fibers. It had to be user-configurable in any combination at any location, and be able to expand with additional digital or analog channels, or 1GigE connectivity in any combination.
“The Barnfind fiber optic transport solution provided everything the gaming company needed,” commented Marzec. “BarnOne is a signal agnostic system with edge routing and multi-rate reclocking all in a single compact enclosure. It is scalable and can be easily reconfigured which provides a flexibility not found in any other platform. In addition, the price for the Barnfind system was significantly more attractive han that of other manufacturer’s products that were considered for this project.”
The system consists of four 1RU rack mount frames split between two areas in the company’s Media Center. One set of BarnOne BTF1-02 and BTF1-06 models are located in the Central Equipment Room, while a mirror image configuration is located in the Secondary Equipment Room.
The BTF1-02 units are comprised of 16 BNC connectors, 16 open SFP ports with an internal 32×32 signal agnostic multi-rate reclocking router. Each BTF1-02 frame is populated with 16 Fiber Optic Transceiver SFP+ modules. The BTF1-06 frames comprise 8 BNC connectors, 24 open SFP ports with an internal 32×32 signal agnostic multi-rate reclocking router. Each BTF1-06 frame is populated with 4 analog coax SFP+ modules and 12 Fiber Optic Transceiver SFP+ modules.
The system launched in late January has been in steady use 5 days per week, successfully bringing the Los Angeles Battle Arena to 100 million viewers worldwide.
Barnfind Technologies AS, headquartered in Sandefjord, Norway, manufactures a multi-function, low power consumption signal transportation platform which supports numerous signals in one frame. Common video and telco formats including KVM, SDTI, SMPTE 2022-6, MADI, ASI to IP, 4K 60p workflows, HDMI, DVI etc. are supported. In addition, there is a full 32 x 32 router in the frame with re-clocking on all outputs (BNCs and SFPs), reference input, full redundancy and the capability to have integrated CWDM/DWDM multiplexing. Barnfind has no-cost control software called BarnStudio which can be downloaded from the website. In addition to this there is also the possibility to use many 3rd party control systems such as Skyline/Dataminer, ScheduALL, LSB/VSM, BFE/KCS, DNF, TSL, Ross openGear/DashBoard etc.
Barnfind is privately owned and has over 60 partners and resellers worldwide in addition to an office in the UK.
